After the death of his wife, Sarah McGee (date unknown), Patrick placed his two daughters in St. Joseph's Orphanage ( an orphanage) in Totowa, NJ
Though, on the 1910 census, both daughters live with John and Catherine Connell and their children. No idea what relationship they had to Patrick Connell.
Doris Day Winterberg remembers her grandmother, Mary Agnes Connell Day, say that she track her father down by finding out his milk rout, and as he was doing he rout she stop and grabbed the horses reins and asked him why he abandoned them. There is no recollection of an answer.

Ira M. Day was 65 years old at time of his own death, about May 30, 1955. He was called Dada by his grandchildren.
